August 15 Assumption
This is the oldest recorded feast day of Mary. It is celebrated with much grandeur in other countries.Traditionally it is a day that herbs or grapes or flowers, depending on the country, are brought to the church and are blessed. There are beautiful processions and picnics.
To Do and Eat:
Mass and a Picnic! Make it an easy one. Buy some food and go to a local park! At the least have a great summery dessert today. This is a great feast to say, "Good bye!" to summer and "Hello" to the new season which is the start of the new school year.
Here is a simple craft--easy even for those of us who are "craft-challenged"

To Pray:
Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary --or just the 4th Decade of it.
And this Collect from Mass.
Almighty God,
You gave a humble Virgin
the privilege of being mother of your Son,
and crowned her with the glory of heaven.
May the prayers of the Virgin Mary
bring us to the salvation of Christ
and raise us up to eternal life.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
