December 12 Our lady of Guadalupe
![]() Our family has a great devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. She is patroness of the Americas and for Prolife causes, and has such an incredible story. The fact that we can actually go and see the tilma today just blows me away. The facts surrounding this story and the tilma are astounding. The "children's" biography from Pauline press called, Saint Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe by Josephine Nobisso is a great place to start for all. For younger children, we love The Lady of Guadalupe by Tomie dePaola.
Since we have such a strong love and devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, we always try to celebrate this feast with gusto. To Do: Read some of these books or watch one of the movies about this story. Have your own play production. Click here for a free PDF of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a simplified play for children ages 5-12. We have performed this play every year for the past 10 years! Pinata! Make your own out of a balloon and some paper mache. To Eat: Mexican Feast! Invite some friends. Potluck Mexican-style. To Pray: A decade of the rosary, memorare, or A Prayer To Our Lady Of Guadalupe
Virgin of Guadalupe, Patroness of unborn children, we implore your intercession for every child at risk of abortion. Help expectant parents to welcome from God the priceless gift of their child’s life. Console parents who have lost that gift through abortion, and lead them to forgiveness and healing through the Divine Mercy of your Son. Teach us to cherish and to care for family and friends until God calls them home. Help us never to see others as burdens. Guide our public officials to defend each and every human life through just laws. Inspire us all to bring our faith into public life, to speak for those who have no voice. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who is Love and Mercy itself. Amen. --- 2010 Respect Life Liturgy Guide, USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities. |
